Merging contact info

After sorting through two address books, a rolodex, and assorted lists of all kinds to send Christmas cards out this year, I'm determined to finally get all this info organized.
Is it possible to create a document where I can store personal and business contacts all in one place and just pull from this to create separate business and personal rolodex files as well as pull to create labels as needed?
I'm sure this can be done but am not sure what the best program is to use.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
