Dear Heidi:

I tryed contacting lawyers but they seemed to be very reluctant to let the files leave the office. But then again I really didn't have that much experience. Maybe you could approach the place that you have been working.

I did do some work for a ParaLegal. You may also want to try those Court Appointed Guardians. I'm not quite sure what they call those people but they are paid to represent in court the children. They have to do a lot of reports....

Talk to everyone you know about starting your own business. Word of mouth is a great tool.

Good luck with your treatments...I think leaving work will be your answer. I had the same troubles before I had my son. I finally left work and I was pregant 3 months later...stress is amazing...even though my fertility specialist said stress was not a factor...

Good luck and you should have no problem with all your specialized experience.

Valerie

: Hi, Heidi!

: Welcome to the board!

: First of all, you might want to check out MT Daily's Legal Forum. They'd have a lot more input since that's your field. There is a link to their site on this board.

: You might want to check out the link for starting your own WP business, too. If you just want to work on the side and maybe pick up a client or two, try going through the classifieds of your local legal newspaper, if there is one. Call attorneys, ask if they have a need for outsourcing transcription. If you don't want to cold call, write a letter of introduction and send it to attorneys and/or court reporters in your area. With your experience, I would think you'd be able to pick up something.

: By the way, where are you located?

: Good luck, and don't forget to check out MT Daily's site. They have separate forums for medical transcription, legal transcription, general transcription, etc.

: Susan
