I had a rep come to my home (first and last time), I think from NASE. This guy was here for over 2 hours - talk about hard-sell! Also, this rep was unable to leave me any literature to study and compare insurance rates (health insurance). It was - sign up today!!! Since that time, I have never agreed to see anyone in my home regarding self-employed insurance. I always ask if they can send me a brochure with info to compare rates and study - but no go.

I am EXTREMELY suspicious of any company that does business in this manner. Sort of like the old door-to-door encyclopedia salesman!

The rates sounded pretty good, and I am lucky to be able to be on my husband's work policy (although we pay $200/month for me). So, I am not in the same unfortunate insurance situation you are.

I have a friend whose husband was on COBRA (also quite expensive, like yours), and they found interim insurance through their regular home/auto insurance agent. Maybe this is worth looking into for you.

Good luck!
