: : : : : : : : : : I am checking into becoming an MT. Recently, my area paper had an ad from Tartan Publishing. After you take their at-home course, you get a certificaiton.

: : : : : : : : : : If anyone knows anything about them, can you please tell me what you think? It's too much money to spend and then find out that a possible future employer will not hire me.

: : : : : : : : : : They do have a website, www.tartanpublishing.com and they have a good report from the BBB. But I just know if I should go with an at-home course or check into a local college.

: : : : : : : : : : Thank you!

: : : : : : : : : I am taking that course right now. I have had no trouble with it as far. I am now waiting to take my final test. Thanks

: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : Laura,

: : : : : : : : I am also currently taking that course. I do have a question for you though, in the anatomy part (that is on the cd) I do not have
: : : : : : : : chapter 10. My chapters 9 & 10 are identical. I called Tartan and was told that was done intentionally so I would
: : : : : : : : have to find it on the resource disk. I looked and still cannot find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

: : : : : : : : Thanks. Renee

: : : : : : : Renee, I too am having the same problem my chapters 9 & 10 are identical-what did you do? Also how did you contact Tartan? No one called me back when I called the company-help!
: : : : : : : Thanks. Michelle

: : : : : : I saw the ad in my newspaper this morning. It sounded a little hokey to me, so I decided to look Tartan Publishing up on the internet and came across this posting. I have a question that hopefully someone can answer: Once you've taken their course, what if anything do they offer to assist you in getting a job?
: : : : I just finished and received my certification I can answer some of your questions just email me. if you email me

: : : I also paid to take the course for MT and due to circumstances out of my control was not able to get to it as soon as I got it. Now I find when I go on to the web site that the whole thing has gone out of business! What is everyone doing? Is there a law suit or anything? I can't even get an e-mail to go through.

: : : Thanks. Lori

: : HELP!!!

: : I was doing fine until Chapter 10. My Resource Links disc has not helped me at all. I can not get it to work period. When I e-mailed them back in December and explained my situation, I got a response saying only to keep trying. Since then, they no longer even have a website, but no phone numbers as well. NAMT is also unable to be reached by e-mail, website, or phone. I really cannot afford to lose the money I invested in this, should we contact the police, D.A., or what??? Somebody please e-mail me if they have any info, and if not, I really want to get to the bottom of this, and would pursue it through the courts. I hope we all did not get ripped off, but if so, we need to get together and do something!!!
: : Thanks,

: To Debbie:
: I have done all the course work and was just about to send in the final tests when I found that Tartan had "gone out of business". I have not yet tried sending the tests into NAMT. Has anyone done so and did they get a response from NAMT? I also would like to pursue this through the courts. Although I'm not sure how to go about it either. I would like to somehow maybe get a class action suit going against them. I do believe the whole thing was a scam. Before Tartan I took a course through PCDI, and compared to that one Tartan's book was very cheaply thrown together (photocopies of mixed up things that they just threw in a binder), it did not teach much of what you really needed to learn, it had many mistakes in it and many parts that did not make any sense. And when questions came up (due to their own thrown-together bookwork), Tartan was not very willing to help. They GUARANTEED a job and did not fulfill that guarantee. I not only invested money, but much time and future plans into this course. I would like to receive compensation for it. If you or ANYONE would like to work together to figure out what to do...get a class action suit going...PLEASE let me know! I am extremely angry about it!

:::::I also paid for the course. I passed their open book exam. I was told I could take my time on submitting in the online exams. I have test to submit now, but they have hidden themselves saying, "try to catch me with your mouse." I am pretty upset now too.
