Shorthand as a marketing skill for a secretarial service? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

I never actively tried to market my shorthand skills. I have let my shorthand grow VERY rusty -- so much so that if I don't type the shorthand notes up RIGHT AWAY - I have the devil of a time interpreting my scribbles.

In my 10+ years of having a secretarial service the only time I've used my shorthand is to take down a quick letter a client dictates to me over the phone. However lately I just type the letter directly on the computer as they dictate it.

So, for the services I offer my initial reaction is no. Executive suites - possibly.

If you decide to market it though you'll probably want to target a "more mature client". I'd guess most people < 30 have never dictated a letter to someone with a pulse.

Good luck!
