Hello everyone!
I wanted to introduce myself and say that I am SO glad
I found this site! I've read all the current posts and
ALL the archives! I was just about to have withdrawals
until I saw a couple of posts today! : )
My name is Kathy and I live in Minnesota. I am in the
process of starting up my own virtual assistant business.
I am married with a 6yr old daughter and one on the way
in November.
I really wanted to tell you all that of ALL the mailing
lists and BB's I've found, this is the ONLY one with any
relevant information to me!! Most of my questions have
been answered as well as some I haven't even thought of
yet!
I have a question for everyone to kind of help me judge
how I am pacing myself in getting started.
How much time passed between the time "the light bulb
turned on" and the time you hung out your shingle? Not
necessarily when you got your first client or assignment,
but when you actually were "official" and ready to go? Did
any of you solicit business before you were official?
I have been researching for about 4 weeks and am still
working on a business name so I can register with my
state and city. I have purchased a fax machine and still
need a laser printer. I have all the software I need
already, thank goodness. I am considering a transcriber,
but don't know what type (standard, micro).
Sometimes I feel like I'm going about this WAY too slow,
so I'm just looking for feedback to see how everyone
else handled this phase. From what I've read in the
archives, all of you seem to be VERY successful at what
you do!
