My business has pretty much existed on word-of-mouth. That and my free one-line listing in the yellow-pages.
Since you seem to be targeting transcription have you sent letters/brochures to companies that professionally tape meetings/shows/etc? I would think they get allot of requests for the transcribing of the recorded work.
