: This was good info, but I was thinking more of my staff (which Susan addressed in her response). I have gals that have been on board 6+ months who have received vocabulary updates, personalized corrections, etc. who are still leaving blanks when they (I believe) should know what's being said and all too often when the error and correction have been pointed out before. I hate to "launch" them after so much investment of time and effort on both our parts, but I think Susan pretty much hit it on the head.

I'm in the process of formalizing my expectations in writing with well-defined guidelines for my staff of subcontractors. I want to state something to the effect of: If a subcontractor has performed (X) number of jobs (or has been on board X number of months) and continues to have more than (X) amount of errors per page/document, the subcontractor will incur the cost of (X) per line for editing.

My business is growing rapidly, and I'm adding editors (I used to do all the editing myself) and several new transcriptionists to the subcontractor staff. Providing editing services is reasonable thing to do for trainees, but I'm reluctant to take that hit for more experienced staff. I was wondering if there is a medical transcription association that may have addressed this, perhaps in some kind of formal guidelines. (I'm not in the medical transcription business.)

I have a terrific staff overall, and I think part of the problem is that I have not been well-defined. Recent growth is helping me to focus on these issues, and I just want to do it right and fairly for all.

I'd appreciate all the input people would have out there! Thanks!!
