Sorry to hear that you've had the flu and glad that you're feeling better today.
I have chronic bronchitis, so I panic whenever I get a cold. It's hard to avoid with kids in school, nieces and nephews in daycare, etc.
My worst case was a year ago at this time. I got a huge typing job just before Christmas that was due the end of January. I was so sick - three visits to the doctor, two rounds of antibiotics, and then prednisone treatment. The upside was that I got paid sick time for the part-time job I couldn't go to, which allowed me more time to spend on the typing job. I just had to lie down and take short naps in between. Thank goodness my husband and son were able to help me with the project, too.
It's amazing how we find the strength to deal with situations that seem overwhelming.
Most of my clients would understand if I had to put the work off for a few days, but I hate to say no to new customers and would call in reinforcements if necessary. My best friend, Cathy, my son, and then my husband if it came to that. I think this is the first Christmas and New Year's that I've managed to stay well (knock on wood).
I know it's not easy, but try not to overdo it. It's harder to get over it if you don't get enough rest. I hope you feel 100 percent ASAP!
