Another source would be a used transcriber from a company who sells business machines. I bought my first Dictaphone (ten years ago) for approx. $50. The upside is, you can find a higher quality, usually more expensive, machine for a lot less. The downside is I had to have it repaired a few times before finally purchasing a new one. I think I paid $240 for my first new transcriber (Sanyo) at Office Depot, which lasted me quite a few years. Then, last year I bought a new Panasonic recorder/transcriber at Office Max for $200.
