This is a first hand account of my six years of looking for work-at-home employment. Some of what I did was wrong, but I learned many valuable lessons and it is my hope this will help anyone who is struggling with the task of looking for work at home. You may not want to hear some of what I have to say, but I promise you that this is honest advice.

When I started looking for at-home work, the first thing I did was to take a medical transcription course. I had heard of all the medical transcription jobs available. I was confident about my success when I spent my money on that course. Now I wish I hadn't. It isn't that medical transcription isn't good work, it is just that I didn't understand all the aspects of the job. I found out too late that it just wasn't for me. I recommend, therefore, that if you are interested in medical transcription that you take the time to listen to some real doctor dictation before thinking about spending money on classes and equipment. I make a similar recommendation for any type of specialized work that will require spending money for the necessary courses or the purchase of specialized equipment.

After my attempt at medical transcription failed, I tried to take what I had learned and put it to work in other fields.

My next pursuit was to find typing work. Anyone who is looking for typing work will quickly learn
