Another question on transcribing videos

I know I asked about this a couple of years ago, but I have someone else wanting to know if I can transcribe interviews from a video.

So I'm thinking - could I somehow record the audio output from my VCR to a standard tape and then transcribe as usual? I'm not about to purchase any expensive equipment for this project...
